Join the URI Cooperative Extension team! Gain experience and skills working with enthusiastic faculty, staff and volunteers in an engaging atmosphere. Increase your odds of landing a job after college!

The URI Master Gardener Program MGP is URI Cooperative Extension’s CoopExt largest train-the-trainer programs, with the mission to educate citizens in environmentally sound horticultural practices. This paid internship position will help to empower volunteer educators throughout RI to think globally and act locally. Learn about environmental horticulture and behavior change while gaining skills in volunteer management, program coordination and event management. Work alongside innovative CoopExt staff and volunteers to plan and carry out science-based, continuing education workshops tailored to Master Gardener volunteers. Serve as the teaching assistant for the core training in sustainable horticulture and related topics for adult learners, held annually from January–May one evening per week. Student should commit to working 15-20 hours during the fall and spring semesters with some evening and weekend availability.

Willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally
Interest in community service, education and sustainable horticulture
Reliable transportation
Ability to work some nights and weekends and
Undergraduate upperclassman preferred, but not required enrolled in one of the following or related majors at the University of Rhode Island Education, Communications, Environmental Horticulture, or Natural Resource Science.
