Description

The Horticulture Department at Mount Auburn Cemetery is seeking a summer intern for the 2018 season. The position will be 40 hours per week and provide training and experience to students enrolled in a horticulture program. Mount Auburn can provide training to accommodate a student's interest or area of study including Arboriculture, Gardening, Grounds Maintenance, Greenhouse/Nursery and Sustainable Horticulture practices under the supervision of the Superintendent of Grounds. Mount Auburn Cemetery comprises 175 acres and is situated on the Cambridge-Watertown line and this National Historic Landmark features more than 16,000 plants.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for the position should have a strong interest in a horticulture career and be willing to assist and learn from Mount Auburn's horticulture staff. The physical demands of this position include routinely lifting to 50 lbs. , bending, walking, and standing for long periods of time and working outside in variable weather conditions. A working knowledge of industry related power equipment is preferred.

Wages, Salary and Benefits

The pay is $15/hr. and the start date is negotiable.
