Propagation Coordinator/Crew leader

At Robin Hollow Farm we focus on running a very efficient farm while growing high quality cut flowers. Consequently, all employees are expected to participate fully in the quality and excellence of our product. For this position, we expect the following

Maintain seeding and planting records.
Maintain seed inventory and order as needed.
Develop and help to coordinate disease and pest management, both in the houses and the fields — including sending samples for testing, scheduling and research.
Manage staff in greenhouse work.
Assist with greenhouse irrigation, as well as disease and pest control. Manage some harvests each week, including insuring proper harvest and post-harvest treatments and labeling.
Manage lily and calla planting.
Assist with market prep as needed.
Creating and updating visual and written training sheets.
Assist with floral design as needed.
Manage work crews of employees and volunteers including training in harvest skills, weed and disease management, transplanting, tunnel and field management.
Assist managers with insuring freshness and rotation of crops in storage.
Insure that the farm is customer ready, working in a tidy and organized manner.
Operate tractors, delivery vans and other equipment.
Work at farmers’ markets, on-farm sales, or wedding flower set-up as needed.
Report at meetings updates on greenhouse needs, scouting of pest/diseases, and market.

Minimum Qualifications

Positive attitude, enjoying good communication with customers and volunteers.
Punctual and reliable.
Able to work independently and in groups of workers.
Open to taking direction and learning new skills as needed.
Able and willing to work full days of physically demanding tasks. These may be repetitive and strenuous, with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. and bending, kneeling, etc.
Able to and interested in working efficiently and quickly.
Horticultural or agricultural experience preferred.

Wages, Salary and Benefits

Work period and Compensation
40 hours/week for the majority of the season, with slightly less for the ends of the season. Hourly wage based on experience.
